about

“Nicks” is a meditation on love and loss filtered through the barroom haze of craft brews and jukebox tunes. And sometime late that night arrives at the realization that what once was isn’t as golden as what is now. The song’s dramatic crescendo embraces the acceptance and belonging that clears the salt from any nicks, cuts, or broken hearts.

The mellow soul of the Wood Brothers and Lukas Nelson could have set the vibe on “Nicks,” the latest single from Sweats upcoming album, I End Where You Begin. Nick D’Alosio’s slinky guitar vamp captivated the band and jams ensued. Travis Durfee’s lyrics paint the scene of an unexpected reunion with an old friend as his vocal performance explores the corners of the rooms where things get hashed out. Rob Kurcoba and JM Sincock hold the bass and drums steady for Tony Deluca to sprinkle tickled keys throughout the track.

The song was produced in collaboration with Mike Caporizzo of Pyramid Sound in Ithaca.
